I'm having trouble with pages for I O S.
I'm using the program on an i phone, and have been having trouble with it since I bought it.
First of all, I can say that the word processor part of it is fairly accessible. It's only every other feature I'm having problems with.
I can't even figure out how to name a document.
When I create a new document, it calls it whatever name the template is, for example blank document.
This is really lame, for the obvious reasons.
Another problem I have is that I can't figure out how to export the documents in .doc format. They all seem to be in pages format.
Everybody that I send documents too on a regular basis uses windows, therefore, ms word.

Thirdly, I can't get any use out of the spellchecker. It does tell me when a word is misspelled, but I don't know how to get suggestions for the word - if this is even possible. I am disappointed, as I could get this same functionality out of plaintext (a dropbox text editor that I use on a regular basis) and at least get a reliable .txt document out of it. I am starting to rely way more heavily on my i phone, since I got a bluetooth keyboard for it.
I take notes in class, take notes during newspaper interviews, etc. The only thing I'm really lacking is the ability to put together a decent looking word document.
I would like, eventually, to be able to use pages for doing school papers on the go, or writing newspaper articles in the car or on the bus.
This stuff is all pocket sized, as I have a bluetooth keyboard that folds down into a small package. With just a little more understanding on my part, or a slightly better app, this thing could serve as a better version of a notetaker. It can be really inconvenient to carry my massive laptop around, especially since I have a fairly long haul to class every day.
So what do you guys think? Was pages a waste of money? I've heard so many good reviews of it from other blind users, but I just don't see it.
I've been using i o s for about two years now, and I know a lot of tricks for getting around in difficult to use apps, but pages has proven to be a pretty significant challenge for me. I'm starting to regret having wasted my 10 bucks.
Please help!

Does nobody have any advice on this?

I have had the same renaming problem and have been thus far disappointed but haven't done due diligence, e.g. checked AppleVis or other places yet.

There's nothing about this on applevis. I've also listened to the podcast about Pages that Applevis links too, no luck.
The zone is my last hope, as I've checked every other source I know of.

I ttried pages myself, and I found it difficult. File naming and stuff. And getting them to .doc... No luck. I use elements, it's really easy, and with a dropbox, it's totally perfect. I can name the file no problem. I set the default format to just txt. The spellcheck thing.. I would love to know how that works in any app. I've never been able to use it at all. Maybe that's just me being an idiot, i would like to know though. ;)
I do recommend Elements. I also had hopes for pages, but when it all came down to it, I didn't need all the garbage they bragged about. ,

I've had pretty much the same experience.
Elements would probably be ok for me, I already use plaintext though.
Plaintext is pretty much the same thing as elements, in that it just makes text files and uploads them to dropbox.

The original poster uses Pages on n iPhone. I have not tried this yet. Sounds like it's a headache to work with.
